Plzeň is the regional capital of western Bohemia and the second-biggest city in Bohemia after Prague. It is home of the Pilsner Urquell brewery with a handful of other interesting sights, good restaurants, and night-time pursuits to justify an overnight stay.
Most of the sights are located near the central square. But the brewery itself is about a 15-minute walk beyond the center. Try to arrive in the morning to tour the non-drinking attractions first. Rather save the brewery tour and inevitable post-tour beers for the late afternoon.
We also recommend you to visit underground passages, interactive Puppet museum, Plzeň’s Zoo (one of the best in the country) and next door Dinopark with life-sized replicas of some 30 dinosaurs.
